Melos Ethos Ensemble
back

Melos Ethos Ensemble was formed in Fall 2005, making their debut at the Melos-Étos Festival. The ensemble takes its name from Melos-Étos, which is one of the most important international contemporary music festivals, held every other year in Slovakia. The group was created to represent the festival in the interim period and to perform pieces by Slovak and international composers. The ensemble has already released a CD containing pieces by young Slovak composers. The core instrumentation of 17 players includes a String Quintet, a Woodwind Quintet, trumpet, trombone, saxophone, percussion, accordion and piano. This instrumentation allows great flexibility depending on the piece - from single player to chamber orchestra. The ensemble consists of top young musicians from Slovakia. The permanent conductor is Marián Lejava.
